I am on a mission. I want my 10% key chain. Huh, you ask!? In WW, if you lose 10% of your starting weight, you get a nice pink metallic key chain thingy. It’s quite nice and when you reach other goals, you add little “charms” to it. You wouldn’t believe how excited people get when they get that damn little key chain. Well, I am sick of wondering what it would be like to earn it—I am going to earn it this time.Losing just 10% of your weight isn’t that much really, but it’s very rewarding. Click here to learn what losing 10% does to your body... (go on, I'll wait!)
Also, breaking down your weight loss target into smaller, more manageable chunks, is helpful psychologically. You aren’t staring at that huge hurdle in front of you. And, really, that hurdle is different for everyone. I have a bigger hurdle than other people in my meeting, and a much smaller hurdle than others, too. It’s all relative. I need to focus on the smaller successes for right now, as I get easily overwhelmed and discouraged if I focus on the larger goals. I am focusing this week on following the program more closely. June is approaching and I am trying not to get discouraged by my lack of real progress. I need to just stay focused on doing as good of a job as I can and keep trying harder. I never try harder, I usually just quit or stay at the same level. So, breaking through that will be huge for me. I am also working on mini-goals, too. Just to improve my goal-reaching skills. I am setting up a simple reward system, too.
Every 5 lb loss, download new music on my iPod
Every 10 lb loss, a pedicure
Every 20 lb loss, new something (whatever I need at the time—new shoes!? New outfit!?)
Goal! Trip to Disney World and celebrate with J and the girls. (tentatively set for next year so I better get my butt in gear!-hey, that rhymes!)
What are some other goals that help you keep progressing to your main goal? Every 5lbs? 10lbs? Size? What are your rewards?

I don't have goals for weight but I do for writing. I know what I want and I try to push myself to keep going even though I may not want to sit down and do the work. I promise myself a new notebook (sounds dorky but oh my goodness. The scent and feel of a fresh high quality notebook from my favorite fancy pen and paper store, ambrosia. Yes, I am aware how weird I am! lol) A new pen or just a little something that says I can do this. I will do this.
I hope you earn your keychain. Wait, I don't hope it, I know it. I know you can do it. So believe in yourself.
I need to set some weight goals for myself really soon. I just found out that I had a minor silent heart attack and its time for me to do something NOW! After I get cleared from the cardiologist I just may come here for some advice!
I too have about 10 pounds I have been wanting to lose for 2 years now.....I go up 5, down 5 but nothing major. I used to be in WW too and actually hit my goal ....then I got pregnant with the third child and haven't been back there since. (My baby is now 5 1/2 so you can see its been a while) :o)
Good luck...hopefully you can inspire me too.
Awesome - I didn't know about that keychain, but it's cute! And a great motivator. Too bad 10% is such a high number (in my case!). Ha!
I love that you are determined and I'll be rooting for you! Be sure to tell us when you get the keychain! :)
I actually have one of those keychains. I took it off my keys when I gained back the weight I lost. It sits on my dresser, taunting me to lose weight. I keep thinking I will before the wedding. And then I remember I ordered the dress in a size larger than I probably needed ;)
Good for you! Keep up the good work. I lost 150 pounds and kept it off for 5 years and counting. My reward was to climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge. I finally got to travel the world and see life up close and personal instead of behind a windshield. Good luck to you!
