Suzi slacks off in September (not by the seashore, sadly)

First off, thank you for putting up with my posting delays. Boy, it's been a couple weeks--totally not cool. I wish I had a good reason, buuuuttttt I don’t. :) So, here’s what we’ve been doing lately—all of which were potential blog posts, had I been motivated enough to write them! ACK.

Birthdays

I celebrated my (gulp) 37th birthday last week. That was a hard one. Not sure why, but I felt old. Didn’t help that I scheduled my first mammogram and a super fun stress test a few days later. Nothing to remind you that you are not a spring chicken anymore like those fun procedures! The stress test was just for my records since my mom had heart issues, my doctor recommended I get a “baseline” test so she can start a history of heart tests, etc. Weird, but whatever. It came back super normal. :)

Kaitlyn celebrated her 6th birthday last weekend! We went to the Mall of America and rode as many rides as our free tickets would allow us.

Then, we had dinner at the Rainforest CafĂ©, which we frequent way too often. Hey, it’s fun, and the food isn’t that bad. Plus, we never have to wait thanks to our Safari Club membership that we bought back in 1999. Yep, for US. Probably one of the few childless couples who went to that place! Ha.

As if that wasn’t enough fun, I took her BACK to the Mall of America on Sunday and we redeemed her free all-day ride bracelet that you get on your birthday (totally recommend doing that by the way!). She rode tons of rides and I…got to watch. After she was rided out, we went to…the American Girl Doll store. OMG!!!!!!!! HA. She had been asking for an AGD and well, we caved. It was a lot of fun and her little doll looks eerily like her!

I forsee many AGD store trips in our future. Little Chloe didn’t get one, but I am sure she will soon. I can’t stand her not having one, too.

Oh, and then we went and got manicures and pedicures. Ahhhhh.... :)

Ice Skating and Gymnastics
Kaitlyn started ice skating lessons a couple weeks ago. She’s kind of natural which is surprising to me since I hate ice skating. I broke my leg in the 6th grade ice skating. Well….sort of. More like, I fell crawling down the hill to get to the lake where we were going to go ice skating. J Still, ice skating and Suzi are not good buddies. She loves it and we love to watch her. Plus, it’s really cold in there and it’s been a welcome break from the weird hot September weather we’ve been having. Hello—it’s 85 out! Summer, you are about 2 months too late! Buh-bye now.
Chloe is now in a gymnastics class at her preschool—Lil Flipsters! She has been so excited to start this class. I think she will really like it. She’s fearless and loves to dance and flip around. Plus, it’s during her school day so that means no Mom Taxi at night—bonus!

Girl Scouts

Kaitlyn is an official Girl Scout Daisy. And, I am the Girl Scout troop leader! Yikes! I volunteered for it but had no idea how much work was involved—even before our first meeting! I am happy though as it’s something I did growing up. My mom was my girl scout leader too so it’s been really fun reliving the past. Except, now you are required to have background checks run on you and that’s a little weird.

Weight Watchers

Ya, still doing it. I’ve had a few good weeks, even earned another 5lb star. Woo Hoo Suzi! I am taking part in the Lose for Good challenge that WW holds every fall. You should check it out.

New Giveaway!

I have a new giveaway posted on my reviews and giveaways section! It’s for 2 adorable baby books that come with little blankies. Too cute. Enter now, enter often I say! Also, look for a very long overdue review on some super fun toys that are going to be available at Target this season!

Well, that’s it. Hope you all are well. I promise to be a better blogger from now on.

First Day of School-1st Grade

To my Kaitlyn,

Tomorrow is your first day of 1st grade! Wow! You are getting to be such a big girl. This summer was full of firsts for you: you wrote your first story-with real words and a beginning, middle, and end! (future blogger maybe!?). You learned to tie your shoes and insist on tying everyone's shoes now. You learned to take a shower all by yourself. You learned how to answer the phone. You learned how to TEXT! Yikes! You helped get Chloe dressed in the morning and picked out the cutest outfits! You swam with no help, no floaties, nothing. You had your first sleepover with a friend at our house (you fell asleep early, but that's ok!).

It's hard to believe you used to be this tiny little princess that made videos like this:

:)

I am very proud of your grown-up-ness. You are such a sweet little girl. Your whip smart, funny, and just down right the most perfect Kaitlyn on the planet, if you ask me.

Listen to your teacher, eat your lunch, and as your Grandma Kam would say, "Smile and Make Friends."

Love,

Mommy
