I am a teeth grinder and eventually it wore my bottom teeth down to the "quick". Now I have to wear a rubber mouth plate every night when sleeping. My 9 month old daughter has already started the grinding with her six little teeth....I just hope she breaks the habit early!

They have these mouth guards you can put in hot water and then mold to you for sports. You could try that. You don't want her ending up like me with severe jaw one deterioration!

Ugh, my 9 year old son has done this for years. He's worn his teeth right down. We're off to the dentist on Valentines day to see if we can get him a mouth guard or something. Brutal. We had house guests this weekend so he slept with us, I had to reach over and grab his jaw a few times. Horrible.

OH MAN, do I know how you feel about those grinding teeth. Our youngest daughter, Kaitlyn nine years old, has been grinding her teeth at night since she had teeth. I agree it is the most ANNOYING night sound. But what do ya do? Ya gotta love 'em. ;)

Visiting from SITS...I know exactly what you mean about the teeth grinding. My 2.5yo does it, and the sound is CRIPPLING. My husband and I fall to the floor in agony whenever she does it. You have my compete sympathies!

My two year old grinds his teeth at night too. I've been wondering what to do about it..leave it alone or see the dentist. He is so small. I wonder if they make those mouth things small enough for a two year old? Hmm. Good luck w/ your daughter--hope she outgrows it soon and/or your dentist can help!

What I'm about to say will seem terrifying, and I apologise, but it's the reason you need to talk to a professional.

My string of idiot dentists and orthodotists ignored my grindig despite the fact that my teeth a FLAT! At age 30, having previously only had one cavity before college, I now have a fab dentist, a gold crown, a few cracked teeth, and a $900 guard I wear at night.

Every night.

A good dentist could have prevented it. That's saying something coming from me. I'd rather go to the GYN than the dentist!

My dd used to grind day and night, even with a paci in her mouth. I don't know how she stopped she just did. It would send chills up my spine all the time. I'm not a super grinder but I do clench my jaw most of the night (inducing migraines). Mine is stress related though.

Maybe try a lotion massage if she'll let you? It could be stress or something. Massage her arms and back of her neck maybe that will help.

Two of my kids do this, too. Basically, it's treatable with a rubberry silicone thing (like Dr's Night Guard), but it's difficult to get such a young child to use one. I was told that it's just their body destressing...whatever. I think they are dreaming about eating steak!

So... we are waiting to treat until they are older. Teenagers, maybe?

Meanwhile, I am sorry you have to hear it. We have a split bedroom plan, so we don't hear much in the kids direction, however everyone sleeps with their doors closed anyhow.
