I just have such a hard time bringing myself to hire a babysitter. I can't wait until they're 12, except that I am SOOO not ready for that. I love the idea of the date in the car. We don't do much but go out to eat since we live in Italy and there's not much for a Mormon couple to do since we don't drink and we don't speak Italian in order to go see a movie. Any way, we went about 10 years without a date night because we had to two little ones, but once they got old enough to take care of themselves, watch out!!! Now the two older ones are getting ready to leave home and we still have a little one that will need a sitter for another year or two, she's nine right now.
